KOSSUTH, Pa. (EYT) – A Memorial Day weekend golf tournament among friends from the Clarion area has evolved into a very productive fundraiser for Clarion County Special Olympics.
Event organizer Brian Long said the annual gathering began four years ago, and the idea to turn it into a fundraiser came soon afterwards.
This year’s event – held at Hi-Level Golf Course, in Kossuth – raised more than $3,700.00 for the Special Olympics. Last year, they raised more than $2,000.00 last year.
According to Long, with the money that was raised from last year’s tournament, new jerseys for the competitors, pictured above, were bought and it also helped pay for travel to states.
Hope Warner, of Special Olympics, stated that the money raised this year will be used for athlete training and competition.
Long works for Rebich Investments, of Edinboro, which is the main event sponsor. Rebich Investments is a privately owned company and an independent affiliate of Wells Fargo.
Terra Works, based in Clarion, is the food and beverage sponsor.
Long wanted to give special thanks to Todd Rebich, Jamie Lefever, Mindy Hess, Warner, Paul and Cindy Curran, Bruce and Amy Turk, Dr. John Colantonio, Steve Condon, Nathan Reed, Clarion Beverage, and O’Neil’s Foods.
