CLARION, Pa. (EYT) – Earth is now being moved for the construction of Regency Commons, a 42-unit affordable senior housing property by Hudson Companies on a 1.14-acre vacant lot on South Fifth Avenue, within Clarion Borough.
Terra Works of Clarion is currently excavating the property.
Regency Commons will serve ages 62 and over that are below the area median income with restricted rents. The $13 million project is a low-income tax credit program through the Pennsylvania Housing Finance Agency (PHFA). It is not HUD Section 8 Housing.
Clarion County Housing Authority (CCHA) will manage Regency Commons and will also provide supportive services to all residents including health screens and educational opportunities.
There will be six fully handicapped-accessible units.
Dan Parker, Mayor of Clarion Borough and President of Clarion Blueprint Communities, said, “There is a significant need in our community for quality affordable housing for people of all ages, this development will help to address the needs of seniors; it is our hope that other developers will step up to improve the existing housing inventory or build new residential complexes for working adults and families.”
The building is being designed and certified under the National Green Building Standard, silver level.
